Choi Won-tae pitches back

LG Twins' Won-tae Choi pitches against the visiting Doosan Bears during the 2023 KBO Baseball Game at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on Tuesday.

(SEOUL) By Kim Kyung-yoon = The top-ranked LG Twins rode a strong pitching performance from "transfer student" Choi Won-tae and a big batting outburst to a fourth straight win over their Jamsil rivals, the Doosan Bears.

LG swept the visiting Doosan Bears 10-0 in a baseball game at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on Tuesday in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL Baseball League.

It was a mixed bag for the Bears, who remained in first place, while Doosan lost its fifth straight game.

LG jumped on Doosan foreign pitcher Brandon Waddell in the top of the first inning after his fastball wobbled.

With runners on first and second after singles by Moon Sung-ju and Austin Dean, Moon Bo-kyung hit a two-run double over the left field fence.

In the third inning, they capitalized on an error to make it 3-0.

With runners on first and second, Son Ho-young singled to right, and Park Hae-min hit a two-run double to left after a wild pitch by Heo Do-hwan.

Doosan catcher Yang Yang-ji, who received a fly ball from left fielder Kim Tae-geun, immediately threw to third base to catch Heo Do-hwan, but the throw fell backward, allowing both Heo and Park to come home.

With an 8-0 lead, LG didn't stop attacking. They added one more run in the fifth and sixth innings to make it 10-0.

Meanwhile, on the mound, Choi Won-tae continued to battle back.

He didn't allow a single batter to reach base until Kang Seung-ho singled to left in the second inning.

In the top of the sixth, with runners on first and second, he retired both Jung Soo-bin and Heo Kyung-min.

With the game tied up early, LG replaced Choi Won-tae, who had thrown just 75 pitches by the sixth inning, with Baek Seung-hyun.

LG's batters had hits in every at-bat on the day, giving Choi his first win since the move.

Choi earned his seventh win of the season (4-0) with six innings of two-hit ball, striking out five and walking none.

He had a personal five-game losing streak against Doosan during his time with the Kiwoom Heroes, but he snapped the losing streak after switching uniforms.

Doosan's Brandon, who had a 0.87 ERA in five games prior to this one, struggled, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits and five walks with one strikeout in four innings, 온라인섯다 raising his ERA to 2.57.
