Honey
Honey is a natural sweetener made by bees from floral nectar by regurgitation, enzymatic activity and water evaporation. As a food, honey is extremely nutritious and loaded with minerals, amino acids, vitamin c and antioxidants. This is why it has long been an important staple food item in many communities. From a flavour perspective, honey has about the same relative sweetness as sucrose (table sugar) which is why it is used extensively in cooking, baking, desserts, as a spread on bread, to sweeten beverages such as tea, and as a sweetener in commercially produced foods and drinks.
