In one place you can experience lush greenery, in another place you can enjoy a hilltop with stunning sunset and many more. So, do visit the place for a journey full of thrill and beauty. The best timing of the tour is from September to March as you can encounter rain, clouds, waterfalls. Though the place is open to see for the whole year. 

The journey starts from Bangalore. Generally the service provider picks you up from there only. The distance between Coorg and Bangalore is 5-6 hours by road. You should stay at least 2 nights and 3 days to see the place comfortably.

Places to explore in the trip

There are some special places that you can not afford to meet while on the trip to Coorg. Here is the list:

  • I. National Park: The Nagarhole national park  gives you the opportunity to see the diversity of flora and fauna of the place. You will be amazed to see the diversity of species of our nation. Exactly located in Kodagu in Karnataka, the national park is the home of 270 kinds of species. You get to do safari as well which is again a good experience to have. Besides the species diversity, the lush green forest will also spell her magic on you. 
  • II. Raja’s seat: One more famous place in Madikeri is this place. You get to see natural beauty here. The place is decorated with various kinds of flowers that are blooming and scattering their charm on the visitors. With only a 5 rupee entry fee, the place is open for all. Though the entry fee is cheap, the experience of the place is rich. 
  • III. The Biddhist golden temple: It is located in Bylakuppe. The name of the monastery is Namdroling Nyingmapa monastery. This place is home to more than 3000 Buddhist monks and gives the chance to explore another dimension of the culture of Coorg. The culture of the place is mainly inspired by Tibetan Buddhusm. There is a flea market as well where you can buy authentic Tibetan items. It is one of the top 10 and largest Buddhist monasteries in India. 
  • IV. Island: The island is made by the Cauvery river and known as Cauvery Nisargadhama. This is a 64 km long island and full of bamboo trees, teak and sandalwood trees. While the island is a stunning place to visit, the thrilling part is to reach the island via a hanging bridge of rope. Sounds exciting! Isn’t it? The place is full of enjoyment with boat rides, swimming, rides on elephants, sightseeing etc. 
  • V. Abbey waterfall: This is one of the most beautiful places to visit. It is at a distance of 10 kms from Madikeri. The waterfall is making its way through the beautiful Western Ghats to touch the earth. The Fall is extremely picturesque. You can just roam around the waterfall to get a feel of the beautiful nature. A Kali mata temple is near the waterfall that you can visit. 
  • VI. Omkareshwara temple: The temple is situated in Madikeri town. The design of the temple is of a dome shape. This is a testimony to the fact that a nation can be full of diversity. Another important fact about the temple is it is among the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva which makes the temple more significant and a must visit for the tourists. 
  • VII. Mallalli waterfall: Another beautiful waterfall you can see in the trip is the Mallalli falls. It is in the Pushpagiri region of Western Ghats. It comes in full motion between July and December which is the best time to visit the waterfall. Near the fall, there are places where you can see Coffee plantations and take a cup of coffee and enjoy the beautiful waterfall there. 

Other beautiful and must visit places are Chettalli, Chelavara waterfall, Harangi dam. You must visit these places.
